Michael - Sea In Focus
Michael Zeigler

I absolutely love diving! Shortly after graduating from Michigan State University, I bought a one-way ticket to Southern California and immediately fell in love with the ocean. I've been hooked ever since I took my first underwater photo. Although I've had the opportunity to dive many amazing places around the world, I prefer capturing the beauty of the diverse marine life that inhabits the rich kelp forests of Southern California. It simply can't be beat! If you enjoy my photography, please feel free to follow my Instagram feed, where I post daily.

Over the years, I've been very fortunate to work with the great people at Sport Diver and Scuba Diving magazines, and other publications around the world. Most recently, I co-founded Immersed Imaging with my friend and award-winning photographer, Todd Winner. Amongst other things, we run some really fun international expeditions. You should come along! Click here to sign-up for our newsletter. If nothing else, we'll do our best to add a few pretty pictures to your inbox.

Since March 2013, I've been a proud member of the Ocean Artists Society, which uses ocean art to inspire people around the world and to create a greater awareness of our need to protect and preserve our natural world. It's a really great cause with a very important message. I would encourage you to subscribe to their free e-zine and quarterly films. Great stuff!

Equipment

I'm currently shooting a Nikon D810 in a Sea & Sea housing with Ikelite DS-160 strobes. For wide-angle, I prefer the Sigma 15mm fisheye lens behind the Zen 230mm dome. For macro, my favorite lens is the Nikon 105mm along with the Nauticam SMC close-up lens for super macro. When I need a focus light, I rely on my Light & Motion SOLA 800. And without a doubt, the arm/clamp system I can count on the most is made by the fine folks at Beneath the Surface

While diving in the temperate waters of Southern California, I couldn't be happier with the comfort and durability of my Waterproof D7 Pro Cordura ISS drysuit. If you're in the market for a drysuit, definitely check these out!
